Open a meeting setup

Goal. One command before a call: the meeting page on the left, notes on the right, volume at a sane level.

Safari launched and placed on the right half of the monitor
aos launch Safari --wait, then aos window move Safari --zone=1B
Terminal window
aos launch "Google Chrome" --wait
aos launch Notes --wait
aos window move "Google Chrome" --zone=1A
aos window move Notes --zone=1B
aos audio mute off
aos audio volume 40

Open the meeting link in its own chromeless window instead of a tab:

Terminal window
aos webapp open https://meet.google.com/abc-defg-hij

Put it all in a shell script, or save the window part as a layout:

Terminal window
aos window save ~/.config/aos/layouts/meeting.json
aos window arrange ~/.config/aos/layouts/meeting.json

Set me up for a call: open the meeting link, put it on the left half, put Notes on the right half, unmute, volume 40.

  • launch --wait returns when the window exists. Without it, window move can run before the app has drawn a window and fail.
  • webapp open uses the browser’s app mode. The window shows up under the browser’s app name in aos window list.
  • Volume and mute are the system output. The meeting app’s own volume slider is separate.
